Membership Terms

Effective Date: January 2026

By registering as a member of the National Lived Experience Commission (NLEC), you agree to these Membership Terms.

1. Nature of Membership

NLEC is a public-interest charity. Membership indicates your support for NLEC's purpose and permits you to participate in its activities. It does not confer voting rights, governance authority, or ownership in the organisation, nor does it create an employment or agency relationship.

2. Eligibility

Membership is open to individuals aged 18 and over who reside in Australia and share NLEC's commitment to advancing systemic reform through lived experience evidence.

3. Code of Conduct

Members must engage with NLEC, its staff, and other members respectfully. Harassment, discrimination, breach of privacy, or disruptive conduct may result in the suspension or termination of membership.

4. Voluntary Financial Support

Financial contribution is optional. All members, whether they hold a free or paid support level, have equal standing. Financial support does not guarantee selection for commissioned work or influence over NLEC's independent evidence findings.

5. Independence and Ethics

Members must not represent themselves as speaking on behalf of NLEC unless explicitly authorised in writing. When undertaking commissioned work, members must adhere to NLEC's Ethical Safeguards and declare any relevant conflicts of interest.

6. Privacy and Data

Your personal information will be handled in accordance with the NLEC Privacy Notice. We do not sell member data.

7. Intellectual Property

Unless otherwise agreed in a separate contributor contract, intellectual property generated through NLEC's general surveys or open consultations becomes part of NLEC's collective evidence base. Your individual contributions will be de-identified unless you consent otherwise.

8. Termination

You may cancel your membership at any time by contacting us. NLEC reserves the right to terminate membership if these terms are breached.
