Request a Briefing

Briefings for government, boards and institutional leaders

Use this public-interest route to raise a defined cross-system question for consideration. NLEC is an independent national cross-system lived experience peak body and intelligence institution; it complements specialist peaks and considers enquiries independently, subject to purpose, evidence, safeguards and capacity. An enquiry is not a commitment to undertake work.

For authorised representatives of government, universities, NGOs, service organisations, peak bodies and governing boards

What to include in a request

The linked contact form records the enquiry and selected purpose. Include enough context to identify the question and the decision it may inform; do not include sensitive personal accounts or confidential material in an initial enquiry.

  • The policy, program, system or decision in scope
  • The intended audience and decision timetable
  • The communities and forms of lived experience affected
  • Existing evidence, consultation or governance material

Possible briefing subjects

Enquiries may concern an Executive Intelligence Briefing, Cross-System Failure Review or Evidence Partnership. These describe possible forms of work by agreement, not guaranteed services, packages or outcomes. NDIS-related questions may be considered within NLEC’s broader cross-system remit.

What happens next

NLEC will consider the enquiry and whether an initial discussion is appropriate. Any next step, scope, deliverable and terms require separate agreement. An enquiry does not create an engagement, endorsement, partnership or obligation for either party.

Independence and confidentiality

Do not assume an enquiry is confidential; legal and safeguarding obligations may apply. Do not send personal or sensitive material through this form. Any subsequent work requires a clear scope, method, independence position and agreed terms.

Discuss the Work

Begin with a clear, confidential scoping conversation

NLEC considers the purpose, affected communities, decision-making context, independence requirements and intended public benefit before proposing an engagement approach.
